So as most of you know, I recently under went some massive hip surgery. Yes that's right, 23 years old an already having hip surgery. Well anyway the surgery appeared to have gone great until two weeks afterwards, then they took out my stitches. As soon as the doc removes them it became blatantly obvious that one of my incision site had an infection and intact was not even slightly healed up. Well we are now 5 weeks post up and I am happy to share that the infection has been concquered, and the wound is actually starting to heal, finally. Now the doc says that there is an abundance of scar tissue as a result which basically puts me back 4 weeks in my rehab. All in all this has been a pretty horrible time. I dis get about 40 days off though, if you can call spending many hours a day seeing doctors off time.
So anyway it is back to work for me, or so I thought. Turns out that my chief I really worried about me going up stairs to my office because I am still on crutches and has given me a new, but temporary, position. I am the official sit in a chair and stare at the wall guy. Now don't get me wrong, I can stare with the beat of them, however this just means that all the work that has been piling up, is continuing to pile up. I think today he and I are going to have a little chat and hopefully he will understand that stairs really aren't the enemy here, terrorists are.

VFW
So fo quite some time now i have been meaning to join the VFW. In fct I had even convinced a room mate of mine to join too. However, we seemed to always get side tracked and had not joined, until today that is. We were goingto grab some lunch and there was a guy on base sign up new members and we both joined. I am now a full fledged member of the Veterans of Foriegn Wars! The beat part about it is that I didn't have to join a specific post, but join as a member at large. This means that I am a part of the VFW as a whole and don't have to be tied down to a single post, which is great because who knows where I will be in a year. We are going to our first meeting tomorrow and I am really lookin forward to it.

A Pondering...
I recently was having a debate with a friend about Prayer in Schools and it got me thinking. First off the debate obviously stems around the first amendment which states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Opponents of allowing prayer use this to say that the Bill of Rights prohibits it. However, as I read it I draw the conclusion that it should be allowed. Just because prayer is allowed does not mean that the government is establishing a religion. As long as no religion is prevented from prayer, and no religion is preferred then there is no problem. In fact there are Supreme Court rulings to back this up. The latest of which was Board of Education of Kiryas Joel Village School District v Grumet 512 U.S. 687 (1994), where Justice David Souter, writing for the majority, concluded that "government should not prefer one religion to another, or religion to irreligion". Then as far as the "free exercise thereof," to me that seems pretty straight forward, and it would seem that to me again the Supreme Court agreed. In Employment Division v. Smith, 494 U.S. 872 (1990), the Supreme Court ruled, "permitting governmental actions that were neutral regarding religion." So I just can't see where the debate of violating the First Amendment comes from, they I got hit with a shocker.
I was told that I couldn't understand because I am not a college graduated, and apparently thus-forth not intelligent I suppose. Well ok, I can see that one, after all constitution lawyers and judges have to go to law school for years and 98% of congressmen are college grads. However, since the our government was formed "by the people, for the people," shouldn't the people be the judges? I say this because in 2007 only 27% of Americans held college degrees, which as I crunch the numbers, means that people like me are the majority. Shouldn't our laws be written so that the common man can understand them?

So recently in my time of not really working I have been spending more time on Facebook. This social network site is a great way to find old friends and keep in touch, however it has a dark underbelly. Have you ever played any of these games that are on there? Sure they are simplistic and easy, but they are incredibly addictive. I started playing the Farmville one and can't stop. I am actually planning out my day so that I know what different type of vegetable I need to plant based off of when I will be home and able to pick it. I wish that I could say I was better than this but I can't stop! Not only the Farmville but also Mafia Wars. They got me hooked, and my room mates hooked as well. We came back from watching Inglorious Bastards and the four of us immediately busted out our laptops and began to play while watching Family Guy. This is what my generation has boiled down to, watching cartoons and playing games pretending to be somebody else. What a life it is though.

Rain
Growing up in the rain capital of the US, Washington, one is quick to dismiss the greatness of it. However, being a San Diego-ite now it is quick to forget because it never happens. Well today it did, and it was a pretty nice downpour. The rain really is a treat to the senses, as long as it is not a daily occurrence. I really can not remember the last time I was able to just sit and take it in. The sound of the drops falling on the roof, the trees, the bushes, what stands in it's way to reaching the ground. The smell that commences almost immediately after the first drops, and of course the sight of everything. From the color changes of the pavement, to the drops covering the tops of leaves and cars.
It seems that as we get older all we think about when it begins to rain is, "Man, I don't want to get wet." But in our younger years remember how excited you got when the water started to fall? Can you remember how much fun and excitement you had jumping and splashing through every puddle? It is funny how much we change as we "grow up" isn't it?

Technology
So it donned on me today that in this day and age there is no excuse for not keeping up with old friends. I am not really sure what got me thinking about it but I have met so many awesome people in my so far short but great life, that it is a shame that I don't keep in touch much. Especially being a computer person by trade you would think that I would take more advantage of it. So during the next unknown amount of months that I am not really doing anything to collect my paycheck, I am going to be reaching back out to my past.
Last night I began my reach-back by contacting two good buddies of mine that are deployed to Iraq. This seems like a fairly easy task since after all we do sit in front of a computer all day when we work. However Iraq is pretty much the opposite of the US as far as time wise. When it is day there it is night here. Luckily I had the night watch and was able to have some good conversations.
Next up I will be getting back in touch with some old high school friends of mine that I really haven't talked to in about 5 years. So wish me luck as I embark on this adventure down memory lane.

Quick Update...
Alrighty everyone, I know that you are foaming at the mouth to hear what is going on with me so I will give y'all a little update. Since the last time I posted I have been working quite a bit on the DCD Blog (www.daincourtdudes.blogspot.com), and think that everyone needs to check it out. It is always good for some laughs. Other than that I have just been taking it easy, real easy, because of the hip. I finally got an appointment setup for Tuesday to figure out what we have to do to fix me though, so keeping the fingers crossed. Other than that, not much has been going on. Just working and watching a lot of TV. Oh yeah, and my roommate and I finally beat Army of Two on the PS3. Great game by the way and I would highly recommend it. Well that it for now, hope everybody is having a great weekend.

Been too long...
Okay so it has been quite a long time since I last posted anything on here so I wanted to update y'all with whatever. This past month has been crazy! Between my broken hip, work, and living to the extreme I had forgotten all about this blog. Don't worry though I won't be forgetting again.
As most of you know I live in a house with 5 dudes, and we basically are a frat house. We are always up to hijinks and other shenanagins that are always quite hilarious. If you have been privledged enough to get invited to the DCD house you know what I am talking about. For the rest of you, you no longer have to feel left out. We decided that what we do is to awesome to not share with the world and created a blog where we post our videos too, and we need everybody to go check it out. So follow the url below and enjoy.

Somali Non-Pirates
Alright World, when did we begin to accept that these are Pirates?
I mean look at these guys! There are no hats, no skull and cross bones and since when did "Pirates" not carry swords?
These guys have successfully taken everything that was awesome about Pirates and destroyed it. Being a pirate used to be a dream of mine but now I want nothing to do with it. And for all of you that are wondering how I can just sit and watch the news and have come up with this from their 5 minute clip you would be greatly mistaken. Back in summer of '06 good 'ol EMac here had a run in with these fake Pirates, but at least those ones were in a motor less boat. Back in the day Pirates were something that stuck fear into people and now everybody knows that the mighty US Navy can just rescue you without any real risk. What kind of "Pirates" so these guys think they are? Yes I did put Pirates into quotes because who really carries an RPG? Terrorists, no pirates! Pirates use cannons, and a flag to strike fear into you before swashbuckling and commandeering your vessel. These guys are just Terrorists and I think that it is time they begin to be labeled as such. So now I leave you World with just this one last thought. When the cut of Black Beard's head, the most feared Pirate of all time, his body continued to run around. Could any of these guys do that if they were decapitated?

Solomon Islands
So seeing as I am stuck at work on this glorious Saturday night with nothing better to do I figured I would share about while I was in the Solomon Islands during the summer of '07. I was there for about a week during the humanitarian deployment that we did that year and it really was a wild a crazy time. We were sent ashore here to re-build the clinic that was destroyed during a tsunami but quickly realized that there was going to be much more than building...
This was our welcoming party! Here we were showing up to build a clinic and they came out to greet us wearing war paint and armed. All in all though this was pretty cool, I mean how often does one get to see something like this? Being met by the war party really set the tone for the rest of the time we spent there. We not only got the clinic done ahead of schedule but we also found time to make a slip-n-slide for the kids, held movie nights for the entire Island. Of course there was plenty of fun times to be had like our three hour trip, in a leaky boat, to go buy beer from the Sheriff on a differnt island, or the snorkeling with the reef sharks. Of course the most memorable adventure we had during our free time was the hike. We had learned that there was a couple of Japeneese planes that had crashed on the island back in WWII and we decided that we needed to find a guide to take us there. After hiking through the jungles, for hours, we arrived at the crash site only to find that so many tourist had been there and taken peices that only the engine block remained. So feeling like a waste of time we headed back towards camp, well after sunset, only to learn that we had to cross a river that was known for having salt water crocs! Now to make us feel better about it the guide did send his 8 year old son across first, you know just to make sure it was safe. It was a crazy week indeed and one that I will never forget.
First Time
All righty World it has become time that I enter into this new craze, albeit a bit later than most people. I am sure that most of you probably would have thought that I already had something like this going on, but I didn't until right now. So y'all just stay tuned because this thing is going to fill up and be a wild ride, and yes please feel free to live vicariously through my posting. Oh yeah, this photo is just a nice one that I took while in the Solomon Islands that I thought you would enjoy.
